Abstract
In two previous technical reports (McDonald 1999, McDonald 2000,
hereinafter call M1 and M2 respectively) we examined the feasibility
of constructing well-posed boundary conditions for the one-dimensional
advection/adjustment equation, paying particular attention to the problem
associated with semi-Lagrangian discretizations, that of the departure
point being located outside the boundary. In this technical note we extend
some of the solutions developed in M1 and M2 to the two dimensional
advection/adjustment system: the shallow water equations.
